Saulė Lithuanian School Registration Information

We invite you to register your child (4 years old and above) to attend school this year. Please send us the first and last name of the child, name of parents, phone number and email address to saules_mokykla@yahoo.com. Registration will continue through July 29th.

Our classes will take place at the Catholic Church of St. Ann (4905 Roswell Rd., Marietta, GA 30062) from 10am to 2pm.

Mielieji, kviečiame visus kartu šauniai atšvęsti Atlantos lietuvių Jonines su pratęsimu iki ryto. Joninės vyks toje pačioje vietoje kaip ir pernai – Bolding Mill Campground, Lanier ežero pakrantėje. Adresas: 4055 Chestatee Road, Gainesville, GA 30506. Pradžia – 4 val. p.p. Jeigu šiek tiek pavėluosite – nebėda! Numatome nuoseklų įsibėgėjimą!

Nuo 4 val. p.p. Joninės vyks Bolding Mill “Day Use” teritorijoje esančiose dvejose pavėsinėse. Nuo 9 val. vakaro Joninių pratęsime Bolding Mill palapinių stovyklavietėse. Tarp ažuolų, su dainomis prie tikro Joninių laužo… Norintys galės likti nakvoti palapinėse.

Šiais metais Jūsų laukia daug linksmybių, žaidimų, vainikų pynimai, Joninių dainos bei užsiėmimai vaikams. Gėlių, žolynų ir siūlo vainikams bus šiek tiek parūpinta, tačiau, kas galite, prašome atsinešti ir daugiau. Pražys ir Paparčio Žiedas! Neapsiriks tas, kas jį suras!

Joninių tinklinis vyks nuo 4:30 val. p.p. Kas norit dalyvauti – nevėluokite. Apie 6 val. vakaro kepsime visų pamėgtas dešrelės. Prašome atsinešti ir savo užkandžių, desertų bei gėrimų, kad galėtumėte pasidalinti su kaimynais ar pavaišinti draugus.

Renginio įėjimo kaina – $20 suaugusiems. Vaikams ir paaugliams iki 16 m. – $5.

Dear friends,

We cordially invite you and your family to celebrate the traditional Midsummer Night Picnic and Bonfire with Atlanta’s Lithuanian-American Community (LAC). This event will take place at the Bolding Mill Campground on Lake Lanier, 4055 Chestatee Rd., Gainesville, GA 30506 on Saturday, June 16-17, 2018.

The festivities will kick off at the Bolding Mill Campground Shelters starting at about 4pm, and will include weaving traditional flower crowns, volleyball, music, singing, dinner featuring grilled sausages, dancing, and games such as the search for the mystical “Flowering Fern,” a favorite of kids of all ages. At 9pm, we will move the celebration to the camping ground to continue with songs around the bonfire.

Optionally, you and your family can camp overnight at the campground. There is no additional fee for those staying overnight in tents, but please email us to lietuviaiatlantoje@gmail.com to reserve your tent site. The number of campsites is limited.

Admission is $20 adults and $5 for kids 16 and under.

Please bring a side dish, a snack or dessert to share. Also, although oak branches and flowers will be at hand to weave flower crowns, please bring some extra cut flowers to add to the fun.

JAV išeivių lietuvių kryžius Kryžių kalne

Lietuvos valstybingumo atkūrimo 100-mečio proga, kunigas Gintaras Jonikas organizuoja kryžiaus gaminimą nuo visų JAV lietuvių bendruomenių. Kryžius bus šventinamas ir statomas Kryžių kalne šiais metais liepos 7 d.

Kryžių gamina Lietuvoje vietos menininkai. Jo papėdėje gulės trys akmenys, kurie simbolizuos trys emigracijos bangas. Kryžiaus kampuose bus iškalti skrendantys paukščiai, kurie simbolizuos žmones, išvažiuojančius iš gimtinės.

Kunigas Jonikas kviečia mūsų Atlantos lietuvių bendruomenę prisidėti prie kryžiaus gaminimo ir pastatymo. Jei įnešime svaresnį indėlį, mūsų bendruomenės vardas bus iškaltas lentelėje ant kryžiaus.

Aukos bus renkamos iki gegužės 29d. per PayPal, lituanistinėje mokykloje “Saulė”. Aukas taip pat galima perduoti valdybos nariams.

The Lithuanian Diaspora in the U.S. to be
Represented at The Hill of Crosses

In celebration of 100 years of Lithuanian Independence, Fr. Gintaras Jonikas is organizing the construction of a unique cross representing the Lithuanian diaspora in the U.S. On July 7, 2018, the cross will be blessed and placed at the Hill of Crosses located just outside of the City of Šauliai in Lithuania.

The cross is currently being crafted by Lithuanian artisans. At bottom, the cross will feature three stones symbolizing the three waves of emigration from Lithuani. On the corners, birds taking flight will represent people leaving their home country.

Fr. Jonikas is inviting the Lithuanian Community of Atlanta to help fund the construction and placement of the Lithuanian-American Diaspora Cross at the Hill of Crosses. The Lithuanian American Community in Atlanta is hoping to raise at least $2,500 to support this project and be listed as one of the contributing.

Donations will be accepted through May 20th through PayPal and at the Lithuanian school “Saulė”. Community board members will also accept the donations.

Baltic Afternoon at Ocee Park – Saturday, May 12, 2018

You are cordially invited to join Atlanta Lithuanians, Latvians, Estonians, their families and friends for a relaxed afternoon at Ocee Park in John’s Creek, on Saturday, May 12th, from 3:00 to 6:30 pm. This event is free of charge.

Our main activity will be Beach Volleyball…and we look forward to having all three Baltic “national teams” engage in a friendly match on the sand courts. There are also basketball and tennis courts and a running track, a picnic shelter and a kids’ playground. Children can also kick the soccer ball around, ride bicycles, roller-blade or skateboard. We are counting on everyone having a great time…including your cats and dogs, if you choose to bring them along. 😊

There will be no organized food or reserved tables while at Ocee Park. Bring your own snacks and refreshments, if you’d like. We recommend that you bring your own folding chairs.

Park your car near the children’s playground at the front of the park. We will meet at the sand volleyball courts, which are located on the far-left side of the park.

At about 6:30 pm, we’re planning to go out to dinner and/or drinks at Marlow’s Tavern, 3719 Old Alabama Rd, Johns Creek, GA 30022. Please let us know either in advance or at the event if you’re planning to join us, as larger groups require reservations.

For members of the Atlanta Lithuanian-American Community: elections of the National Board of Directors of LAC will be held nationally in all states from May 1st until 15th. If you have not registered to vote online, there will be an opportunity for you to vote at Ocee Park, where paper ballots will be available.
